Makanek - preparation and serving

Note: meats must be moved from freezer to fridge to defrost at least 12 hours before use. It should be cut and put in the fridge upon request.

Makanek is a very famous Lebanese dish, traditionally made from veal meat (young cow). It is prepared with a special pepper to give it a special taste.

Makanek is always prepared by Teta Kitchen.

Makanek should be served after cold mezze has been served (along with other Hot Mezze) and should always be served very hot.


- Put oil in a pan, then add the Makanek pieces

- Cook the meat for about 12 minutes. Remove the oil and add some pomegranate molasses and a little lemon juice

- Put the cooked Makanek in bain-marie to keep hot


Makanek is served in a bowl and decorated with some pine nuts, pomegranate molasses and a slice of lemon
